We are seeking experienced litigation insurance defense associates who desire to work in a fast-paced litigation environment where opinions and ideas are valued and encouraged.  At Floyd | Pflueger, being an Associate means you will immediately be involved in drafting and opposing motions, depositions, discovery, court hearings and trials.

Located in Seattle, we are a small in-office law firm overlooking beautiful Puget Sound.  We pride ourselves on fostering relationships, supporting each other in our practice areas, continually improving processes and consciously providing opportunities to build community amongst ourselves.  While hybrid work is available, we value our in-office time together. 

The skills and abilities of successful candidates include:

  • At least three years’ experience.
  • Experience working with insurance companies and within their respective guidelines is a plus but not required.
  • Active membership in Washington state bar.
  • Excellent research, verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Clerkship experience a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to work with colleagues professionally, effectively, and respectfully.
  • Desire to develop relationships with individuals who have different cultural frameworks.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

As a legal assistant, you will support multiple attorneys in a team environment, managing all aspects of legal cases. Ideal candidates will be able to work with limited supervision, have a keen attention to detail, meet deadlines and commitments, and have knowledge of the court systems.  

At Floyd | Pflueger, being a legal assistant means you will: 

  • Manage all aspects of cases for assigned attorneys including court documents, case schedules, trial dates, depositions, mediations, and client meetings.
  • Draft, prepare and format correspondence and other legal documents based on firm standards and individual attorney preferences.
  • File pleadings with courts, serve counsel with pleadings, discovery, etc.
  • Schedule appointments, depositions, court reporters, process servers, client meetings and other matter-related meetings for attorney(s).
  • Maintain attorney calendars, set deadlines, reminders and other action items as needed and requested by assigned attorneys.
  • Ensure outgoing mail, email, overnight deliveries, and messenger deliveries are delivered accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Work with paralegal(s) to maintain organized case files.
  • Create and manage client files using NetDocuments.
  • Communicate professionally with a diverse group of clients, attorneys, and staff both in person, phone and email.
  • Assist other firm attorneys as requested and required in the absence of, or in addition to, their regularly assigned legal assistant.
  • Continually seek to improve processes and the quality of work through open dialogue with colleagues.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

  • Minimum of three years’ experience providing attorney support in a law firm.
  • Experience in or desire to learn about the Washington state and Federal court system.
  • Prior experience in insurance defense litigation (highly desired).

As a paralegal, you will support multiple attorneys in the medical malpractice and insurance defense environment.  Ideal candidates will be able to work with limited supervision, have a keen attention to detail, meet deadlines and commitments, and be skilled in medical malpractice.  

The skills, abilities and experience of successful candidates include:

  • Minimum three years’ experience.
  • Prior experience in medical malpractice.
  • Prior experience gathering medical records.
  • Experience working with experts.
  • Knowledge of State and Federal court rules.
  • Documentation demonstrating exceptional writing and grammar.
  • Initiative and comfortability working independently under minimal supervision.
  • Professional communication with a diverse group of clients, attorneys, and staff via email, phone and in-person.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload and timelines.
  • Flexibility in responding to multiple deadlines and conflicting priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality in all situations.
