Floyd, Pflueger & Ringer, P.S. has over 30 years’ experience and has built an impressive record of civil litigation victories.   We seek two experienced litigation/insurance defense associates with at least three years’ experience.  Strong research and writing skills are required.  We are looking for associates who desire to work in a fast-faced litigation environment where all opinions and ideas are valued and considered.  Our associates are immediately involved in motions, depositions, discovery and court hearings including trials. 

Responsibilities will include all aspects of a defense litigation practice including drafting and opposing motions; conducting depositions; court appearances, mediations/arbitrations, and trial. Experience working with insurance companies and within their respective guidelines is a plus, but not required. 

Compensation is negotiable, based upon qualifications and experience.  All inquiries are confidential.

  • Active membership in a Washington state bar (Oregon State bar a plus)

  • Excellent research, writing, communication, and interpersonal skills

Floyd Pflueger & Ringer is looking for an experienced legal assistant to join our team in Seattle. We are an in-office law firm with beautiful water view offices. We focus on team collaboration that is best supported by being together in the office. Remote work is available on occasion.

As a Legal Assistant, you will support multiple attorneys in a team environment, managing all aspects of legal cases for assigned attorneys. The ideal candidates will be able to work with limited supervision, have a keen attention to detail, complete assignments on time, and have knowledge of the court systems. One must also be a self-starter with excellent organizational skills.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Draft, prepare and format correspondence and other legal documents based on firm standards
  • Prepare court docketing, including case schedules, trial dates, depositions, mediations and meetings
  • File pleadings with courts (electronically or by legal messenger); serve counsel with pleadings, discovery, etc.
  • Schedule appointments, depositions, court reporters, process servers, client meetings and other matter-related meetings for attorney(s)
  • Maintain attorney calendars, set deadlines, reminders and other action items as needed
  • Ensure that outgoing mail, e-mail, overnight deliveries, messenger deliveries and facsimiles are delivered in a timely manner
  • Work with paralegal(s) to maintain organized case files
  • Create and manage client files using NetDcouments
  • Communicate with a diverse group of clients, attorneys and staff both in person, by phone and by email
  • Assist other Firm attorneys as requested and required in the absence of, or in addition to, their regularly assigned legal assistant
  • Perform other duties as requested

Education & Work Experience

BA or BS degree is preferred; however, equivalent experience may be substituted to 4-year degree. Candidates must have a minimum 2 years’ experience as a legal assistant in Washington with knowledge of the court systems.
